The roof fan and ductwork shall be connected using a flexible hose (made of non-combustible, flexible material) with a minimum length of 200 mm and a diameter matching the inlet and outlet dimensions of the roof fan. To ensure that the flexible hose does not twist or deform during system operation, it should be installed with appropriate tension—neither too loose nor too tight. In the case of a canvas hose installed at the suction inlet of the roof fan, it may be installed slightly more tautly to prevent it from being drawn inward during fan operation, which would otherwise reduce the effective cross-sectional area of the hose.
