  • T701-6 Impedance-Composite Silencer
The T701-6 series of impedance-composite silencers is one of the earliest series of silencers utilized in air conditioning and ventilation systems.

The T701-6 series comprises ten different size specifications. It is generally suitable for airflow volumes ranging from 2,000 to 30,000 m³/h at an airflow velocity of 6 m/s. The external cross-sectional dimensions range from 800 (W) × 500 (H) to 2000 (W) × 1800 (H) [mm]. Specifically, silencer models #1 through #4 have a length of 1.6 m, while models #5 through #10 have a length of 0.9 m. The reactive attenuation component of this composite silencer is achieved through the sudden changes (discontinuities) in the cross-section of the inner duct and the action of expansion chambers located between the inner and outer ducts (models #1–#4 feature three chambers in series; models #5–#10 feature two chambers in series). The resistive attenuation component is achieved through the absorption of acoustic energy by ultra-fine glass wool sound-absorbing panels, thereby reducing noise levels.
The typical sound attenuation per unit length for the T701-6 series is as follows: 10–15 dB/m at low frequencies, 15–20 dB/m at medium frequencies, and 20–25 dB/m at high frequencies. The pressure loss per single stage ranges from 15 to 60 Pa.

Key Considerations for Selecting the T701-6 Impedance-Composite Silencer:
When selecting a silencer, an airflow velocity of 6–10 m/s is recommended, though velocities up to 12–14 m/s are permissible.
Models #1 through #4 may be used as single-stage units, whereas models #5 through #10 should be installed in multi-stage series configurations.
The silencer may be installed directly at the fan outlet; within the overall system, it should ideally be positioned as close as possible to the air conditioning equipment room. The exterior casing of the silencer should undergo the same thermal insulation treatment applied to the adjacent air ducts. Currently, due to their relatively large physical volume, these silencers are gradually being superseded by the newer series mentioned previously.
