  • During the construction of ventilation and air conditioning systems, issues regarding the installation of exterior wall louvered vents frequently arise. To ensure project quality and enable the system to achieve its intended objectives, the following points should be carefully addressed during the installation process:

    (1) Exterior walls located near sources of pollution or physical obstructions are generally unsuitable for the placement of air vents. If obstructions are situated too close to a vent, they can impede airflow—whether intake or exhaust—thereby increasing system resistance, reducing airflow volume, and potentially even creating a short-circuit loop where intake air is immediately drawn into the exhaust. Furthermore, exhaust vents located within the building's interior floors should not be positioned within atrium areas; otherwise, noise emitted from the exhaust vents may reverberate within the atrium, causing echoes.

    (2) Since exterior wall louvered vents are directly exposed to the outdoor environment and frequently subjected to erosion by rain and snow, protective measures against these adverse factors must be incorporated during installation. Consequently, the ductwork materials used should consist of corrosion-resistant galvanized steel or non-metallic materials.

    (3) To prevent condensation caused by significant temperature differentials between the indoor and outdoor environments during cold seasons, it is essential to apply thermal insulation to all indoor ductwork located within a 2-meter radius of the exterior wall louvered vents. Additionally, with regard to potential snowfall, the exterior vents must be positioned at a height situated above the anticipated snow accumulation level to prevent the vents from becoming blocked.

    (4) Regarding the selection of exterior wall vents: in terms of size, the design should ensure that the airflow velocity through exhaust vents does not exceed 4 m/s, and through intake vents does not exceed 3 m/s. In terms of model selection, priority should be given to products that are aesthetically pleasing, rain-resistant, and possess a sufficiently large effective airflow area. Vents that are undersized or have an insufficient effective area will inevitably result in reduced system airflow and increased noise levels.
